- SCOM compiles score files in 10 sec ... 2 minutes depending on the
- complexity. These are measured on a 601 120mhz model. The latest
- Macs are about 7 times faster, and should handle 5 minute score about
- 20 instruments, several sections and lots of controllers in 120/7 seconds
- = 18 seconds, so its getting pretty fast...I still rememeber the v1.0
- which compiled a simple piece a whole night ;-). Playback is done
- internally through Midishare, but SCOM can also 'throw' the MIDI file
- directly to Logic and you can then push Logic's play button for
- playback and do further arrangements in that environment. It is also
- possible to robotize your scores and let SCOM generate random combinations
- in the background while you work on other programs. The speed is
- 180 full 5 minute 20 instrument pieces per hour...takes much longer
- to listen them all (and is boring - I suggest on concentrating one
- piece at a time).
